How To Reduce Your COVID-19 Risk While Traveling?

Summer is near the corner! This summer vacation may not feel as carefree as it used to be before the quarantine but, anyway, you may still feed that travel bug by keeping safety guidelines for COVID-19.

Tourism is one of the most noticeable and growing sectors in the global economy. Hence, it is considered to be a powerful tool bolstering economical growth both in developing and developed countries. Therefore many countries are opening once-closed borders and are ready to welcome international tourists.

With a world full of enthralling destinations, crafting your travel bucket list can be a little bit tricky and challenging this year. You should factor in how the COVID-19 pandemic could affect your journey and learn some vital tips to stay safe.

Vaccinated people are the most likely to travel

Getting your life back on an even keel after the pandemic is difficult. Full vaccinated people get easier and quicker to a new sense of normalcy during these tough times. So, the risks can be minimized significantly for vaccinated tourists. As a result, after vaccination, they receive the certification document/passports in digital or paper format that will attest that a person has been vaccinated against coronavirus. While traveling during COVID-19 the person just needs to prove it by having a vaccination certificate with them.

Now that millions of vaccine doses have been distributed in the United States, everyone hopes to suppress the spread of coronavirus earlier.

Some states in the US require mask-wearing and social distancing measures as well as some kind of restrictions and caveats on the entry of certain travelers into the country. Among them are negative COVID-19 test results no more than three days before travel or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past three months before they board a flight to the United States.

Besides, even for vaccinated people getting tested with a viral test three to five days after travel is required. In addition to this point, for unvaccinated people, it’s also required to stay home and self-quarantine for a full seven days after travel.

So, in the USA fully vaccinated people follow revised mask use guidelines – they do not need to wear a mask outdoors, except in crowded settings. Currently, some countries require tourists to have certification or a recent negative test result taken within the previous seventy-two hours.

If your next travel spot isn’t in the US, there are several countries in Europe planning to re-open their borders to vaccinated travelers within the still uncertain time frame.

Follow restriction at your destination

Depending on which country is your vacation spot, the recommendations, and requirements may differ. Follow and apply everyday precautions to travels to your destination. On the whole, most of the countries require

  • mask-wearing and physical distancing precautions,
  • negative COVID-19 test results in no more than 3 days before travel,
  • wash hands often or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol),
  • check the COVID-19 situation and testing requirements of your travel destination.

Prepare for your flight in advance – have extra face masks, take hand sanitizer with you, book your seats beforehand. Additionally, make sure to check the testing and vaccination requirements of your destination.

Travel feels possible once again if you keep up those safety precautions. Always stay safe and healthy.
